Originally, the spaces of our studio at via Padova 27 housed a mechanical
workshop, and even earlier, a postal station for changing horses for those traveling to or out of Milan. For a long time, our courtyard was the place to rest before continuing the journey. When we first entered in 2016, a poster of a blue Ford GT 40 from the 1960s hung on the wall, the space was buried under rubble, and instead of the entrance door, a piece of blue PVC tarpaulin dangled...︎︎︎

The site-specific project involves coloring the shadows cast on the Trullo’s walls at a specific time of day. The lightness of the shadow, inherently ephemeral and unstable, materializes itself through the different shades inspired by the surrounding landscape. The colors will align with the shadows only for a brief moment during the day, altering their chromatic perception and achieving a complete correspondence between representation and reality... ︎︎︎

In "Sundays," what Maddalozzo puts on stage is a kind of archeology of the car. Traditionally a symbol of an achievement, of an accomplishment that was reached through the efforts of labor, the car was and still is, an object of boasting, something to be devoted to with care, to be personalized to the point of making it unique, consciously or unconsciously, almost an extension of ourselves... ︎︎︎

Federico Maddalozzo grew up in the north-eastern provinces of Italy, in the middle of a context characterized by car body shops, Sunday tuning rallies, and houses with garages and gardens suitable for washing cars.
The project Meine Welt Neue Welt takes form from this landscape as ongoing research into the car-its design, sculptural forms, trends in production and painting, and repair techniques... ︎︎︎

The motif of a space of protection or a container, a hull or skin that oscillates between fragility
and stability, that nestles against the body, influencing it or separating from it, can be found in Federico Maddalozzo’s works. These works also play with the use of design objects in the realm of
the artistic. Maddalozzo covers demolished parts of car chassis - the shell that protects people in
automobile traffic - with the foil that is otherwise used to give the car another color. The original form can be made out beneath the stretched-out foil that, although linked to it, also renders it strange. ︎︎︎

Maddalozzo’s work demonstrates how art today can deal with the question of light and colour in a clever and convincing way. As with many artists before him – the Old Masters for example, or the Impressionists - it is the visible of the surface that fascinates him. Unlike them, however, he is no painter. His interest does not lie in craft or skill, but the phenome- non as such... ︎︎︎
